Strategy · Market building · Storytelling

For twenty-five years I have helped brands and leaders turn each new technology into something people actually trust.

From the first commercial web to AI, I work with organisations deciding what comes next — as a strategic partner, a storyteller and a builder of markets. I am Founder & CEO of The Stylista Group, Strategic Partner and North American Lead for LAF | Les Années Folles, and a business advisor with the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women: Black in Business programme.

The argument

Anyone can assert foresight. Very few people advising on AI today were running campaigns on the commercial web in 1998.

Fewer still spent the intervening decades teaching it — at City College, through Constant Contact and Grow with Google, and at Lehman College, where I designed the three courses I teach.

The tools change completely each time. What earns trust barely changes at all. That is the whole of the method, and it is the reason this page leads with the length of the career rather than a claim about the future.

How the work shows up

Five roles, and what stands behind each one

  1. Strategic Partner

Senior collaboration, not task delivery. Seventeen years owning an agency and fourteen running an IT firm.

  2. Market Builder

The scarcest claim here. Transatlantic translation is rare, and almost no one competes for it.

  3. Storyteller

The through-line clients name first, and the one that has survived every platform shift.

  4. Educator & Advisor

Fifteen unbroken years. Goldman and Lehman make it current rather than historical.

  5. Futurist

Last, deliberately. It moves to first when the published thinking exists to carry it.

The Future Readiness Index

A diagnostic, not an essay — extracted from courses I wrote and teach rather than invented for a website. It is the one framework being built, because it is the only one that produces something a visitor can use.

The accredited subject is one platform shift in particular. The Index is the layer underneath it — how an organisation decides what to do when a channel stops being optional — which is the question AI is now putting to everyone.

The accredited material it comes from

Management and Business Innovation, Lehman College (CUNY), taught since 2021. Each links to that course's entry in the public CUNY catalog. The catalog confirms the courses; that she wrote them is her own account. Her faculty listing

About

I started in 1998, and I have watched every supposedly world-ending technology shift arrive since.

Each time, the same thing turns out to be true: the tools change completely, and what earns trust barely changes at all.

The long version

I started in 1998 at boston.com, building some of the first online campaigns brands like Dunkin' Donuts and Fleet Bank ever ran. Since then I have watched every supposedly world-ending technology shift arrive, and I have learned the same thing each time: the tools change completely, and what earns trust barely changes at all.

That conviction has taken a few forms. I founded The Stylista Group in 2009 to help lifestyle, luxury and social-impact brands make better digital decisions. Since 2012 I have been Managing Partner at Simplicity IT, a Microsoft-certified managed services firm, which keeps me close to how technology actually gets implemented rather than how it gets talked about. And for fifteen years I have taught — at City College, through Constant Contact and Grow with Google, and today at Lehman College, where I designed the three courses I teach — because an idea you cannot explain to a room of small business owners is usually not a very good idea.

Today I advise ten scholars each cycle through the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women: Black in Business programme, and I lead the North American expansion of Les Années Folles, a European B2B influence agency. Both are the same work: helping people build credibility that lasts longer than the platform it was built on.

Work With Me

Two routes, and they lead to different rooms.

One is a brand practice for consumer-facing companies. One is packaged material built to be delivered from a stage or a boardroom table. Choosing correctly saves us both a call.

What a first conversation looks like

No deck, no discovery ritual

Tell me the decision you are trying to make and what you have already tried. If I am the wrong person for it, I will say so on the call and point you somewhere better. That has happened often enough that it is worth putting in writing.

Start where the decision is.

Make the change legible, then make it actionable before anyone leaves the room.

I have taught this material to boardrooms, universities, chambers of commerce and rooms full of first-time founders — for Google, for Constant Contact, at City College, and at Lehman College, where I built the curriculum I teach from scratch.

What I am asked for

Three subjects, all of them taught before they were ever put on a stage: what twenty-five years of technology transitions predict about this one; how organisations build credibility that outlasts the platform it was built on; and how to make an AI decision you can still defend in two years.

Insights

The thinking, published.

This is the part of the site that has to be earned rather than designed. Nothing is published yet, and the page says so rather than filling itself with placeholders.

Editorial pillars

What this will cover

Four pillars, each one drawn from work that already exists rather than a content calendar: technology transitions and what they repeat; trust as the actual unit of brand value; transatlantic market building; and teaching as a discipline for thinking clearly.

No articles published yet

Publishing begins once the cornerstone piece is written — an empty archive is more honest than a padded one, and this page is deliberately not pretending otherwise.

Want the first piece when it lands?

No newsletter, no sequence. One note when there is something worth reading.

Ask to be told

Planned

AURA is a good idea, and it is third in line.

An AI concierge that explains the roles, recommends the right reading and routes you to the right conversation. It is planned. It is not built, and this page exists to say what it will be rather than to imply it already is.

Why it waits

What AURA does — explain the roles, recommend articles, route to a form — is a good navigation bar and a well-written Work With Me page. Both of those exist now, and they cost nothing to govern.

Against building it early: permanent content governance, AI-disclosure and privacy exposure, accessibility obligations for a custom conversational interface, and a performance budget it would consume.

There is also a tension worth naming out loud. The promise of this practice is human connection, and the stated experience principle is human before technology. Making an AI simulacrum the most distinctive feature on the site argues against both. So: build the site, publish the thinking, then add the concierge once there is a knowledge base substantial enough for it to be useful.

When it does ship

The rules it will be built under

AURA will never invent client claims, pricing or confidential terms, and will never represent a third-party organisation. It will disclose that it is an AI in the first exchange, every time. Anything it cannot source, it will decline to answer and hand to a human.

Not built

This page is a statement of intent and is marked as one. No interface here is live.

In the meantime, the human is available.
